A number of current and former Shiseido UK employees are alleging that they have fallen victim to a data breach.

According to beauty industry watchdog Estee Laundry, “hundreds of employees both past and present” have had their personal data stolen, including names, addresses, bank details, passport details and photo IDs. This has resulted in bank accounts emptied and credit files destroyed.

One anonymous current employee claimed that Shiseido management and HR have “acted appallingly” and denied responsibility, refusing to contact ex-employees to alert them.

Another former employee said that they had “spent over a month deleting and deactivating accounts” while not knowing how scammers managed to obtain the personal data.

If confirmed, this would be the second mass data breach involving the cosmetics company in six years, following a 2016 case that saw the personal details of 420,000 customers leaked.
